What web accessibility is

An accessible site lets visitors with disabilities browse with the same or a similar level of ease as other visitors. This is achieved through the structure of the site itself and through assistive technologies the visitor may already use.

What we have done on this site

We have built and audited this site against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA. Specifically, we have done the following:

  • Set the language of the site and structured content with semantic HTML.
  • Defined a clear heading hierarchy on every page.
  • Added descriptive alternative text on every photographic image.
  • Implemented color combinations that meet the required contrast ratios for body text and interactive elements.
  • Respected the visitor’s reduced-motion preference. Animations on this site stop when the operating system requests it.
  • Made every action reachable by keyboard, with a visible focus state.
  • Tested the site against current screen readers.
